Speaking & Teaching

Will Wright, Th.D., offers lectures, retreats, parish missions, and formation programs focused on the Catholic theological tradition, with particular attention to liturgy, the Paschal Mystery, and the renewal of Catholic thought.

His work brings together Scripture and Tradition, the Fathers of the Church, Thomistic precision, openness to Eastern Christianity, ressourcement theology, the liturgical movement, and is geared to audiences seeking deeper understanding of the Catholic faith.

Areas of Focus

Liturgical Theology and the Paschal Mystery

Dr. Wright’s dissertation was on the theology of the liturgy, active participation (participatio actuosa), and the Church’s participation in Christ’s saving work, known as the Paschal Mystery.

The Catholic Intellectual Tradition

Faith and reason, theology and philosophy, art and science: none of these are in conflict. In fact, the Catholic intellectual tradition has always been vast and interdisciplinary.

The Renewal of Catholic Theology

A constant attentiveness to ressourcement theology, the liturgical movement, Vatican II, and the relationship between tradition and development.

Catechesis and Adult Faith Formation

Helping Catholics encounter the coherence, beauty, and depth of the Catholic tradition is the main desire of all of Dr. Wright’s work, at every level.

Church History and Theological Development

Trained as a historian before becoming a theologian, the key moments in the development of Catholic theology and spirituality are examined carefully.

Recent Engagements

Recent engagements include presentations for the Hour of the Laity Conference (Mexico City, 2025; Anaheim, 2023), the Institute of Catholic Theology, the McGrath Institute for Church Life at the University of Notre Dame’s STEP Program, the Diocese of Phoenix Deacon Formation program, the Tepeyac Leadership Institute, and parishes throughout the Diocese of Phoenix.
