Good Distinctions

Good Distinctions

What Makes Good Distinctions Worthwhile? We believe strongly that “Good distinctions are the spice of life!” In our increasingly polarized world, the vilification of those who disagree with us seems to be universal. At Good Distinctions, we desire to reignite good conversation, to seek out the best distinctions, and inspire others to do the same. While we are unambiguously Catholic, we nonetheless hold that we have something to learn by listening with charitably open ears, minds, and hearts to those with a different point of view than our own. Recognizing the perspective of another does not mean abandoning or watering down fundamental Christian truths. Considering the perspective of someone with whom we disagree does not need to lead to an existential crisis. Instead, it allows us to learn from the perspective of others while respecting their God-given intellect, will, and conscience. We will never be afraid of boldly proclaiming the truth, but we acknowledge that the response of Faith must be free and can never be coerced. As St. John Paul II said, “The Faith is proposed, not imposed.” Good distinctions are the spice of life because they lead us closer to the truth. Truth is often in the virtuous middle, avoiding both excess and deficiency. So, finding good distinctions allows us to be more disposed to cutting through the noise and receiving the peace which only Christ can give. He alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is not interested in trying to trick us and He desires our salvation. Why, then, is Good Distinctions worthwhile? In addition to everything already laid out: we are singularly focused on getting to Heaven and bringing as many people with us as possible. We hope you will join us in this endeavor! Good distinctions are the spice of life and they will lead us closer to our Lord Jesus Christ.
